If you are planning to appeal because credit is being withheld in one or more of your classes, it is your personal responsibility to file an appeal. AN APPEAL IS NOT AUTOMATIC! You must submit an appeal form signed by you and your parent/guardian. If no appeal is submitted, credit will be withheld.
If you have accumulated 10 absences, a combination of absences and cuts totaling 10, or 3 cuts in any one class, you may pick up an appeal form in your house office.
When filling out an appeal, ACCOUNTABILITY MUST BE MADE FOR ALL OF YOUR ABSENCES! Partial accountability of absences to bring the number below nine is NOT an acceptable method of appeal. A written statement from you is encouraged.
You may wish to involve your guidance counselor to help you complete the form. Your parent/guardian should also be involved. You may ask your teacher to support your appeal. Once you have completed the appeal form, submit it to your House Attendance Secretary by the close of school on:
Tuesday, June 3, 2008 for SENIORS Thursday, June 5, 2008 for UNDERCLASSMEN
UNDER ALL CIRCUMSTANCES, ALL UNDERCLASSMEN MUST TAKE THEIR FINAL EXAMS! TEACHERS MAY EXCUSE SENIORS FROM FINAL EXAMS IF THEY HAVE MET ESTABLISHED CRITERIA AS STATED IN NFA POLICY.
Neither teachers nor students will attend the appeal hearings. Your guidance counselor and your building administrator will be at the hearing but will not be involved in voting on the appeal. All appeal hearings will be scheduled during the exam week. Your parents will receive written notification of the appeals committee’s decision.
