The French Club (Le Cercle Francais) welcomes current and recent students of French a variety of opportunities to learn about and enjoy French culture. Meetings are held once every one to two weeks, more frequently when an event is in progress. Annual events and activities include La Fete de la Pomme (our October Apple Festival to celebrate the Normandy region), Cantiques de Noel (a French Christmas carol sing), Festival du Film Francais (our winter film series of feature French films), and Mardi Gras an inter-language club celebration). In addition, members learn to play boules (an outdoor French bowling game) in the spring and fall. French food plays an important role in our meetings and activities, including making crepes together. The club also provides opportunities for members to use their talents and creativity. Proposed activities for this years agenda are a spring picnic, a French poetry/music coffeehouse, and a restaurant/museum field trip. A February trip to Quebec is under consideration. |
