HEALTH EDUCATION GRADING POLICY
In order to receive a passing grade in Health Education class, students must atten and participate in 2/3 or more of the class periods in each marking period. The numerical grade will be determined as follows:
60% of Grade
1. Handout management and participation. First time in each marking period without lesson handout is excused; thereafter, there will be a 4 point deduction from the numerical grade each time the student attends class without handout package.
2. Attend regularly. Cuts are counted as a double "0". (8 point deduction)
3. Participation is always expected in handout work and activities. During each activity the teaher will observe and evaluate whether or not the student: A. Shows sustained effort.
B. Works to maximum ability level.
c. Demonstrates a good attitude.
40% of Grade
1. Testing - written, oral, and/or group dynamic work.
Grade Cut Offs
A 90-100%
B 80-89%
C 70-79%
D 60-69%
F 59% or less
A plus or minus indicates the upper or lower level of the letter grade, with the exception of A+, F+, or F-.
Extra credit may be earned and excused absences may be made up by making arrangements with the teacher.
The final semester grade will be a combination of the two activity grades within a semester. To receive credit towards graduation, students must participate in at least 2/3 of the class periods within a semester and receive a passing grade.
