On February 6 NFA students and science teacher Seth Yarish competed with fifteen regional schools in the National Science Ocean Bowl regional competition at the University of Connecticut Avery Point Campus, sponsored by Project Oceanology. The program excites students about the ocean environment and exposes them to careers in ocean sciences. The NFA team won a buzzer system to practice for the next completion, and one student won a kayak. This was NFA’s first time in the Ocean Bowl. Competitors were seniors Sage Bierman, Tanner Carr, Shannah Cotton, and Shalyn Moran, and junior Ethan Yarish.
