The boys cross country team lost three all-conference seniors from last year's squad that won the ECC large division. However, waiting in the wings were a group of 11 juniors ready to step in and fill the void. They accomplished that and then some. Seniors Mike Miner, Craig Babcock, Andrew Cardin, Kevin Liang, and Eric Buzon took the top five spots in all but one dual meet during the regular season. They finished at 5-0, going undefeated for the fourth year in a row, meaning this group of seniors never suffered a dual meet loss in their four years at NFA. In the process, Miner, Babcock, Liang, and Cardin picked up all-conference honors. The culmination of conference play was last Thursday at the ECC Championships held at the Norwich Golf Course. The boys took 5 of the top 15 spots to win the meet by a margin of 39-95 over defending champion Griswold. Mike Miner capped off a terrific performance by the team by coming from behind with 600 meters left in the race to win the individual championship. Miner becomes the 13th individual conference champion in school history and the first since John Paul Mandelburg in 2001. For the team, it was their 4th conference championship in the last 5 years and the 30th conference championship in the program's history.
