The Softball season came to a close in the finals of the CIAC Class LL State Championship with a 1-0 loss to Champion Masuk High School. The team finished with a school record 24 wins and 2 defeats.
In a ten inning thriller, the NFA Softball team defeated Cheshire in a Semi-Final match-up by a 4-3 score. The squad will now play in the Class LL State championship game against #3 seed Masuk. The game will be Saturday, June 9 at 3:30, at DeLuca Field in Stratford. This is the first time since 1984 that NFA has played in the championship game, losing to East Haven 6-2.
Caitlin Eaton pitched the entire game to improve to 16-0. Hillary Schnip knocked in the winning run with a single in the bottom of the 10th with 2 outs.

The Softabll team easily defeated Trumbull on Saturday by a 6-0 score. The team now faces #9 seed Cheshire in the Semi-Finals, Tuesday at 4:00 at DeLuca Field in Stratford.
Caitlin Eaton continued her unscocred upon streak through the tournament, finishing with 10 strikeouts and no walks.
The Wildcats are now 23-1.
The Softball team defeated New Milford in the second round of the Class LL tournament by a 7-0 score. Caitlin Eaton pitched her second consecutive 1 hitter thus far in the tournament.
The Softball team breezed through the Class LL first round with a 13-0 victory over #29 Torrington. Caitlin Eaton improved to 13-0 as she struck out 17 and allowed only one hit. Jen Barlow had 5 RBI's for the day, hitting a double and home run.
The second round game will be on Wednesday against #13 seed New Milford.

Caitlin Eaton improved her record to 13-0 and Hilary Schnip went 3-3 to lead the Wildcats to the 2007 ECC Tournament Championship. Eaton pitched an 8 inning shutout (1-0) and Schnip got the rally going in the 8th inning with a double to right. Marissa Ruiz pinch ran for Schnip, was bunted to third by Lindsey Wilson and scored on a two-out single up the middle by sophomore Caroline Blanchard.
Coach Cotter's squads have now won three consecutive ECC Tournament Championships.
The Wildcats won their Fifth Straight ECC Large Championship in the last week of the season closing out their divisional play with a 9-1 record. The “Cats” lost the first game to Fitch back on April 18th 4-0. The team rallied in their next game against rival Waterford with a come from behind win when Hillary Schnip reached on hit was replaced by pinch runner Marisa Ruiz who was able to come all the away around to score on a bunt hit by Amy Loser to tie the game.
The team seemed to gather momentum after that game and ran off 15 consecutive wins to win the division. Pitchers Caitlin Eaton (Conference All Star) and Hillary Schnip were forces on the mound. Some of the top hitters in the program were Caitlin Eaton with a school record for extra base hits, (1b) Genevieve Barlow, (SS) Caroline Blanchard (Division All Star) and CF Luigina Facchini (Division All Star) along with (2b) Bensey Schnip.
The team finished the overall regular season with a 17-1 record and were the top seed for the conference tournament. Three members of the team plan to play next year in college Caitlin Eaton at Parkland College, Bensey Schnip at Bentley College and Luigina Facchini at CCSU.
Caitlin Eaton a Senior Pitcher/Infielder became only the fourth player to reach one hundred career hits with a double against Waterford on May 3, 2007. Caitlin had 38 hits as a ninth grader, followed with 32 hits as a tenth grader, and as an eleventh grader due to injuries she was limited to only 35 at bats getting 10 hits. Caitlin want back on a hot hitting streak to start her senior year and very quickly closed the gap.
Caitlin joins Heather Stone (2001), Kristin Kropp (2002), and Melanie Chinigo (2003) to reach the century mark. Caitlin is having one of the best seasons ever as both a pitcher (14-0) and hitter in the history of the program. She will attend and continue her softball career at Parkland College in Champaign Illinois. Caitlin has been named League All Star three times and All State twice.
