For one and a half centuries, NFA has prepared a diverse group of students to make their mark in the world. Dedicated in 1854 to the importance of adapting the courses of study to the necessities for students destined to different callings in life, the Academy continues to build on the foresight of its founders.
My main source of information is A Brief History of The Norwich Free Academy by Dorothy Agranwitch 45, a former Academy faculty member and former Director of Archives. I also used as a reference the article The Special World of The Norwich Free Academy by William Stanley 48 that was published in Discover Connecticut Magazine in 1993. (ed.)
