Please join us for an evening of art and wine in the Converse Art Gallery! Taste wines from regional vendors, sample delicious hors d'oeuvres and enjoy the work of the artists included in the 67th Annual CT Artists Juried Exhibition.

Your ticket price includes admission the the museum, unlimited samples of featured wines, gourmet hors d'oeuvres and a souvenir wine glass.

Join Slater Museum Director Vivian Zoë, as she presents a series highlighting the people and places that influenced Norwich's rich history.

JOHN DENISON CROCKER: NORWICH'S RENAISSANCE MAN

SUNDAY, MARCH 7 AT 3:00 P.M.

Paintings by Norwich resident John Denison Crocker (1822-1907), document the town’s late 19th-century golden age. Some depict captains of the city’s industrial revolution, some are portraits of important members of the community, still others are landscapes that document the original nine square miles of Norwich and its rural environs. Discover the many sides of the man, the artist and inventor John Denison Crocker in this enlightening presentation.

Ms. Zoë discusses the origins and early development of the Slater Memorial Museum, its first curator, and their influence on dozens of American museums.

AROUND THE WORLD ON THE YACHT ELEANOR: THE SLATERS' GRAND TOUR

A NEW PERMANENT EXHIBITION - NOW OPEN!

Come see our newest permanent exhibition, following William and Eleanor Slater's 'round the world cruise in 1894/95 out of New London to the Azores, France, Egypt, India, China, Japan, Alaska and home. The Slaters' Grand Tour lasted more than a year and a half, took along some of their closest friends and included elegant dinners on board and shopping trips on land.Artifacts, photographs and fine art represent the phenomenon of 19th century luxury travel aboard an elegant yacht graced with Tiffany windows, Persian rugs and Barbizon School paintings.
