Summer Programs

Summers at NFA are just as educationally rich as the rest of the year. Numerous programs are offered throughout the summer months to help students get ahead, learn new skills and take advantage of the many opportunities provided by NFA.  Summer programs are a continuation of our commitment to our students’ success.

Endless Opportunities: A Summer of Exploration Program:  For middle school students entering 7th and/or 8th grade who wish to learn about NFA’s campus-like atmosphere, course offerings and what it’s like to be a student of the Norwich Free Academy.  The program is open to any student from any town regardless of their town’s assigned high school and allows students to select from a variety of courses from CSI: NFA to Fitness Fun to Clay Shoppe and everything in between.

Summer Intercession Program:The program was originally designed as a way for struggling students to make up credit and successfully graduate on time with members of their own class.  The Summer Intersession program not only allows students to graduate on time, but also reinforces skills necessary for students to improve their overall performance during the regular school year. Recently, the Summer Intersession program has expanded to include new programs in addition to the long-standing credit recovery program.  The Summer Intersession Program now offers:

  • Credit Recovery:  For NFA and non-NFA students to recover credit lost due to failures and/or attendance.  Students may earn up to a maximum of 2 credits. More info...
  • World Language Bridge Program:  For NFA students currently taking regular Spanish 1 and French 1 classes who wish to advance to Honors Spanish 2 and French 2 in the upcoming school year. More info...
  • Math Review Bridge Program:  A week long review course designed for 9th and 10th grade students who are currently enrolled in Geometry. This program will review many of the concepts learned in Algebra 1 in order to be successful in an Algebra 2 course during the upcoming school year.

All programs in the Summer Intersession take place during the month of July.  For more information on any of these programs, please contact Mr. Bryant Sheldon, Summer Intersession Director at 860-425-5760.
